The following downloads may be difficult to source elsewhere or are older packages that remain useful to the amateur.
GSHHS data
A Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Shoreline Database
The shorelines come in five resolutions:
- full resolution: Original data resolution. (57MB) Download
- high resolution: About 80 % reduction. (14MB) Download
- intermediate resolution: Another ~80 % reduction. (3.6MB) Download
- low resolution: Another ~80 % reduction. (803KB) Download
- crude resolution: Another ~80 % reduction. (123KB) Download
This data can be used in some of David Taylor's software (MODIS L1 Viewer & MSG DataManager)
I would personally recommend the Intermediate data (Webmaster).
